YUSUF SHAKIR | HEAD COACH

B.S. Psychology | Western Illinois University

In March 2009, Yusuf Shakir was named Head Football Coach of his alma mater and perennial state and national power Tallahassee Lincoln High School, thus becoming the first alumni of Lincoln to be named Head Football Coach. It all began in 1995, when Shakir was a High School Football All-American at Lincoln. He was the only player in the talent rich state of Florida to be ranked in state recruiting services at two different positions in 1995. Shakir was a 1st Team All-Big Bend and a 1st Team All-State player in Class 6A and an honorable mention USA Today All-American.

Shakir received several Division I-A scholarship offers. Shakir graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Shakir then moved on to teaching and coaching at his, Tallahassee Lincoln High School. He helped win a State Football Championship as an assistant coach at Lincoln in 2001 with a win over perennial state and national power St. Thomas Aquinas. Valdosta State

Michael was born in Mississippi and moved to Florida at age 6. He graduated from Manatee High School in 2000. He played football at Valdosta State in Georgia from 2000-2002 before transferring to Dodge City in 2003. He started coaching Little Leauge with the Palmetto Trojans and later with the Mustangs, Mike has 5 kids, Jaq (22) Sir (18), Mikyla (17), Page (7) and Michael (2).

JERMAINE MITCHELL | WIDE RECIEVERS

B.A. Edward Waters College

Jermaine graduated from Gibbs High School in 2001, where he lettered in football and track. Jermain graduated from Edward Waters College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. He played running back and Kick Returned for the Tigers in 2001. Coach Mitchell currently teaches Science at Lincoln Memorial Middle School in Palmetto. He is married to Arielle Mitchell. They have three children, Princeton (7), Anthony (6), and Maryah (4). 

THOR MILLER | OFFENSIVE LINE

McNeese State University

Thor Magnus Hunter Miller is in his 2nd year of coaching football. He played at Manatee High School from 2009 to 2013 winning a state championship in the 2011-12 season and lettering all 4 years. Coach Miller played in the North-South Allstar game. He played college football at McNeese State University winning a conference championship going 11-1 in 2015, lettering all 4 years. His girlfriend is Ashlee Peterson.

B.S. University of Louisville

Domonique played quarterback for Manatee and played in the CaliFlorida All Star Game. He played Cornerback for the University of Louisville from 2000-2004. He graduated from the University of Louisville with a B.S. in Sports Administration. He played 3 years of Arena Football from 2006-2008 and signed as a free agent '05 with the Eagles. He teaches Special Education at MHS. Coach Dunbar has two kids, Demi and Dallas Dunbar.

TRACY SANDERS | DEFENSIVE BACKS

Florida State University

Coach Sanders is a 1984 graduate of Manatee High School. He was a quarterback and Co-Captain of the 1983 State Championship Team. he attended Florida State University, where he was a four year letterman on the football team, He player professionally with the Buffalo Bills and with the Tampa Bay Storm in the (AFL). This is coach Sanders' second tour as an assistant coach. He last coached 2011-2012. Coach Sanders and his wife Twanda , have two sons, Cornelius and Ace, who are also graduates of MHS. 

SHANE WHEELER | LINEBACKERS

M.S. East Central University | B.S. Huron University

Coach Wheeler graduated from Suwannee High School in Live Oak, Florida. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education at Huron University in Huron, South Dakota. He earned his Master's in Education from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. He has coached on the high school level for 11 years and 8 years at the college level. Coach Wheeler's most recent experience was at the defensive coordinator at Clearwater High School. He is married to Kenya Wheeler and they have two daughters, Kelisyah and Katye Wheeler, a nephew, Demoundre Evans and a 6 year old canine, Champ.

DENNIS STALLARD | SPECIAL TEAMS

B.S. Florida State University

Dennis is a graduate of Edgewater High School in Orlando where he lettered in football, track and crew. He also played one year of football at FSU. Moving to Bradenton in 1986, he enters his 45th year of teaching and coaching. Currently he teaches accounting and OJT and works with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Prokicker.com for punters, kickers and long snappers.. Married to Marcia, they have two daughters, Kristin and Kelly and 4 grandsons, Ben, Will, Rylan and Sam.

BRUCE LAWLOR | ATHLETIC TRAINER

Bruce has been with Manatee High School since July 2017. Bruce is originally from Bettendorf, Iowa. Before attending college, Bruce served in the US Army from 2000-2007. Bruce then attended Western Illinois University, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. he then continued his education at Troy University, obtaining his Masters Degree in Athletic Administration. 

Prior to joining Manatee High School, Bruce worked as a clinical athletic trainer with the Andrews Institute/USTA National Campus in Orlando, where he provided primary medial services for ATP/WTA tennis athletes.  He also served as Head Athletic Trainer with Orlando City Soccer providing primary medical services for the Orlando City B USL Team. 

JIM NELSON | LIFE COACH

Flagler College, Columbia Seminary

Jim grew up in Memphis, TN then moved to St. Augustine and graduated from Flagler College in 1983, then came from Columbia Seminary in 1989. He then moved to Bradenton to begin Young Life in 1990. He has worked with teenagers at Manatee High since that time. He is a Presbyterian pastor and has been an avid Hurricane fan for the last two decades.

DANIEL S. LAMAR | TEAM PHYSICIAN

Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine, Coastal Orthopedics

A native of Anna Maria Island, Daniel S. Lamar, M.D., Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist with Coastal Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, specializes in sports medicine, total joint replacement, cartilage rejuvenation, pediatric injuries and arthroscopy. In addition to serving as a team physician to the Manatee High School Hurricanes, Dr. Lamar also served as sports medicine physician to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for 11 years and now lead team Orthopedic consultant to the Tennessee Titans. Also a consultant to the Baltimore Orioles, Pittsburg Pirates, U.S. Soccer Team and IMG Academies, and is medical director for Gatorade Sports Science Institute. Having completed his residency at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Lamar continued his medical training  with a fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the University of Miami. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Lamar has served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine
