TERRANCE DUNBAR

DEFENSIVE LINE

Coach Terrance Dunbar is in his second season as a varsity defensive line coach and has been an integral part of the Manatee Hurricanes program for eight years. He previously served as the freshman head coach and JV assistant coach, helping develop young athletes into varsity-ready players.

A proud 1992 graduate of Manatee High School, Coach Dunbar played on the nationally ranked 1991 Hurricanes team as a running back, earning a place among the school’s 1,000-yard rushers alongside legends like Tommie Frazier, Tyrone Williams, and Shevin Wiggins. He continued his playing career as a defensive back at Dodge City Community College, where he was a First Team All-Jayhawk Conference selection and ranked second in the conference for pass breakups. He then transferred to the University of Louisiana Monroe, starting at cornerback for two years, earning First Team Independent honors both seasons, and making game-saving plays against powerhouse programs like Kentucky and Mississippi State. He capped his college career as the team’s Defensive MVP his senior year.

Coach Dunbar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Marketing from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Organizational Leadership.

Off the field, he is a dedicated father to four children: Deterrace, twins Iyanna and Kiana, and his youngest, Terryn.
