Coach Michael Barrett brings over two decades of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for the game to Manatee High School’s football program. A proud Manatee High alumnus, Barrett played football for six years before continuing his athletic career at Valdosta State University in Georgia and Dodge City Community College in Kansas.

His coaching journey began with the Palmetto Trojans and continued with the Manatee Mustangs before joining the Hurricanes in 2012. Now in his 14th season with Manatee and his 22nd year coaching overall, Barrett has been instrumental in developing dynamic and disciplined running backs.

Off the field, Coach Barrett works as a Teacher Aide for Exceptional Student Education (ESE), where his dedication to helping young people succeed extends beyond athletics. He is married to Ebony Barrett, and together they have eight children—Jaq, Sir, Kiyla, Siya, Paige, DJ, Mike II “Chico”—and one grandson, Keegan “PopPop.”
