DEFENSIVE BACKS

Coach Tracy Sanders brings over 25 years of coaching experience and a lifetime of football excellence to the Manatee Hurricanes. A proud Manatee High School alumnus, Sanders made history as the team’s quarterback by leading the Hurricanes to their first state title in 1983.

Following high school, he attended Florida State University, where he was a four-year letterman under legendary head coach Bobby Bowden and transitioned to cornerback, showcasing his versatility and elite skill. His playing career continued professionally with stints in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers, before achieving back-to-back Arena Football World Championships with the Tampa Bay Storm.

Since joining the Manatee coaching staff in 1998, Coach Sanders has been a cornerstone of the program, developing championship-caliber defensive backs and mentoring countless athletes. His dedication was honored with induction into the Manatee High School Hall of Honor, recognizing his remarkable impact both as a player and coach.

Off the field, Coach Sanders is a devoted husband to Twanda, father to two Manatee graduates, and proud grandfather to three grandchildren. He continues to inspire players with his passion, leadership, and commitment to excellence on and off the field.
