LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL — The high-octane Manatee Hurricanes stormed into an away district match against the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs this Friday, delivering an electrifying performance that culminated in a resounding 52-6 victory.

The initial drives witnessed the Mustangs and Hurricanes trying to find their rhythm, with both teams making steady gains. However, it was Manatee's Yahir Diaz who made the breakthrough by intercepting a pass from the Mustangs' quarterback. This pivotal play set the stage for Cory Sanders to execute an impressive 18-yard run, eventually leading to Joey Colonneso slotting in a 27-yard field goal. The Hurricanes established an early lead at 3-0.

The start of the second quarter saw Kei’Shawn Smith make his mark, bulldozing through the Mustangs' defense with a 13-yard rush, soon sealing the deal with a 2-yard rushing touchdown, pushing Manatee's lead to 10-0.

The momentum further swung in favor of the Hurricanes when Ean Johnson-Kelley showcased exceptional agility, blocking a punt from the Mustangs. In the blink of an eye, Ty’Ron Jackson exploited this advantage, registering a swift 12-yard rushing touchdown. The scoreboard read an imposing 17-0 in favor of Manatee.

The Heidel-Bean Jr. connection was on full display as the duo combined for an 18-yard gain, swiftly followed by a majestic 40-yard touchdown pass, bolstering Manatee's lead to 24-0.

While the Mustangs managed to pull one back, scoring their lone touchdown of the game, the Hurricanes continued their offensive onslaught. A staggering 70-yard connection between Heidel and Cory Sanders paved the way for Heidel to toss a 9-yard touchdown pass to Farrakhan Shannon, wrapping up the first half with a 31-6 lead for Manatee.

The second half showcased Manatee's unwavering dominance, with Heidel orchestrating another touchdown drive, connecting with Jalen Bryant for a 30-yard passing touchdown. Manatee was in firm control at 38-6.

The Mustangs' attempts to rally back were thwarted when Christian Johnson intercepted their quarterback's pass, transforming it into a pick-six touchdown, stretching Manatee's lead further to 45-6.

As the match neared its conclusion, Ty’Ron Jackson delivered his second rushing touchdown, a remarkable 32-yard run, encapsulating Manatee's utter supremacy with a final score of 52-6.
